Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child of Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her parents were an aunt who worked as household worker and father who was a teacher. Michael Dennis and Kevin are three of her elder brothers. McCormick always enjoyed dancing, singing and creating performances with puppets. The fairytale story of her rise to fame began when she took home the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest at the age of 6 which led to an inquiry from talent agent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency and asked her if she'd like to be in show business. McCormick found her first role as a major actress in the year 1964. She was featured in an ad campaign for Mattels the newest doll baby Pattaburp. In the following year, she starred in another commercial for the companys Chatty Cathy doll and was shortly cast in the musical Wind It up until It is Broken on stage at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was one of 1200 children who auditioned for the role of the eldest towheaded daughter in The Brady Bunch. The sitcom featured Florence Henderson and Robert Reed newlyweds, who shared an unmarried family. The show lasted five years. McCormick disclosed in Heres the Story. Surviving Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published in 2008) that McCormick was close to losing her Virginity in the hands of Barry Williams during the five-year run in the series. He was 19 years old. She was 16. It would have happened she said but the timing wasn't the right time for us.
